Paletería La Michoacana : ウィキペディア英語版 | Paletería La Michoacana
La Michoacana is a Mexican chain of ice-cream parlors, with an estimated 8 to 15 thousand locations in Mexico. The "chain" is an informal network of family-run businesses, no single company operates them as a formal franchise operation. == History == La Michoacana was founded by Rafael Malfavón Villanueva in the early 40's in the town of Tocumbo, Michoacán, making ice cream and popsicles from their own recipes. Expansion began when Ignacio Alcázar Pulido, an employee of Villanueva's, stole money from the store and ran away to Mexico City to open his own ice cream shop. The new location was successful enough for Pulido to pay back his debt to his former employer and finance new locations. 〔 The informal structure of the business has led to legal battles over the rights to the "La Michoacana" brand.
